WTM SERIES ON THE FINAL EVENTS OF BIBLE PROPHECY

INTRODUCTION

You are welcome to Insights from God's Word, a Bible Study Programme that is committed to sharing God's Word by allowing the Bible to speak for itself.

Friends, we greet you in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

In this study, we bring you the introduction to our series on The Final Events of Bible Prophecy. Within the next few days, we are going to share with you on this platform very important studies on Bible Prophecy with a particular focus on end time events.

Unfortunately, many people have been programmed through several mediums into thinking that the twin books of Daniel and Revelation are closed books of the Bible that cannot be understood. But friends, this assertion is not true.

In fact, there are several portions in the book of Daniel that the prophet Daniel and many of his contemporaries understood clearly (Daniel chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and many portions of the other chapters in the book). However, it is also a true fact that there are also portions in the book of Daniel that the prophet himself could not understand (Daniel 8:27; Daniel 12:4; Daniel 12:8-10).

For instance, from Daniel chapter 12, through verses 8, 9 and 10, we read about the experience of Daniel concerning a particular vision that he could not understand: "12:8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?

12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand."

(Daniel 12:8-10)
And so friends, from the passage above, it is evident that there are some portions of the book of Daniel that could not be understood even by the prophet himself. But beloved, that is not the end of the story concerning these prophecies that could not be understood by the Prophet. For we are also told in Daniel 12:4, 9 that at the time of the end, a particular people who are described in Daniel 12:10 as "the wise" will understand these closed prophecies.

Beloved, from Daniel 12:7, we are given an important piece of information in relation to the time of the end. We are told that the time of the end will begin when the prophetic time period designated as "time, times and an half" came to an end. Friends, we are going to discover in this series of study that this time period designated as time, times and an half actually began from 538 A.D. to 1798; totaling a period of 1260 years. And that after the year 1798, which marked the end of the 1260 years, the time of the end actually began. This time period is a very significant period in Bible Prophecy. But don't worry if you don't know anything about that now. For the details concerning this time period will be made very clear as we go through these series of Bible Prophecy.

Now, for us to understand the closed portions of the book of Daniel, God in His infinite mercy gave us the amazing prophetic book of Revelation. The book of Revelation is actually a twin prophecy book that complements the book of Daniel. From the introduction of the book of Revelation, we read the following awesome words: "1:1 The Revelation of JESUS CHRIST, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants THINGS WHICH MUST SHORTLY COME TO PASS; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

1:3 BLESSED is he that READETH, and they that HEAR the words of this prophecy, and KEEP those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand."

(Revelation 1:1-3; Capital Emphasis Added)
Friends, what wonderful motivation we have for reading, hearing and keeping those things which are written in the book of Revelation! This book is Christ's love letter to His children, especially those of us who are living at the time of the end. This book, as the introduction highlights, will enable God's people who are living at the final hours of this earth's history to know exactly the things which must shortly come to pass before the second coming of Christ (Revelation 1:1).

Friends, the book of Revelation is the only book that reveals unto God's children in amazing detail, the grand schemes of the enemy of righteousness in these end times. Now, as God's children read and meditate on this prophetic book, the plans of Satan are so clearly unmasked before them that they are able to furnish themselves with the necessary spiritual armor to fight victoriously in the final warfare between good and evil.

But friends, the unfortunate thing is that, the devil has been able to deceive the majority of God's children into thinking that they cannot understand the book of Revelation, and that there is no need to even open it; while on the contrary, the book actually pronounces blessings on all those who read, hear and keep those things which are written therein (Revelation 1:3).

In fact, the book of Revelation is an open book. And friends, whoever humbles himself under the leading of the Holy Spirit can understand this book in this time of the end. For we read from the last chapter of the book the following words: "22:8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

22:10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand."

(Revelation 22:8-10)
Thus friends, unlike the prophet Daniel, the apostle John is commanded not to seal the sayings of the prophecy of the book of Revelation because THE TIME IS AT HAND (Revelation 22:10; Capital Emphasis Added). Friends, the time has come when the wise are able to read and understand the prophetic books of Daniel and Revelation.

And as I said earlier, within the next few days, we are going to take an amazing journey of blessings into the milky way of Bible Prophecy. In fact, there are several interesting things that we can study within the twin books of Daniel and Revelation. However, the focus of this work (which I believe is the ultimate purpose of the book) is to reveal unto us as clearly as possible the FINAL EVENTS within these two apocalyptic books so we can know the prophetic nature of the times we live in; and what is just ahead of us so we can prepare ourselves adequately for the soon coming of Jesus.
