Decisions for Eternity

"29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, 30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life" (Mark 10:29-30). Our Savior powerfully and clearly responded to His disciple Peter that there is no one who has left all for His sake and the sake of the gospel and will not in return receive even more than what he or she left. Motivating enough is His statement that such an individual will receive immortal inheritance in the world made new. He also truthfully told the disciples that they would suffer persecution for forsaking all for His sake.

Just as He spoke to the disciples of old, He speaks the same words to us today. Are we ready to forsake all for His sake and for the sake of the gospel of life? The Savior is calling us to forsake what we have which decays and come for that which does not decay!

Many of us have been deceived to believe that it is all rosy to follow Christ, but Christ is telling us that following Him all the way comes with persecutions. Do we refuse His beautiful and eternal offer because of the temporal persecutions associated with it? Or do we refuse his beautiful and eternal offer because we do not trust Him and His words? Can we afford to let something stand between us and the One we profess to love supremely?

Brethren, He first left all His riches, glory and praise in heaven for our sake, and would we be mean and unwise to leave our earthly and temporal things for our own good? Brethren, soon and very soon, that which we have now will be taken from us and where will we turn to in that moment?

The Savior also entreats us to seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness and all other things (food, clothing, shelter, etc) will be added unto us (Matthew 6:33). Please remember the reverse does not work. It is never late to accept His offer until it is late.

GOD BLESS YOU!
