The Ten Commandments Versus the Ceremonial law
During the time of ancient Israel, there existed an important working relationship between the Ten Commandments and the Ceremonial Law. When any of God's people sinned, he or she broke the Ten Commandments. To obtain forgiveness for the sin committed, the transgressor had to provide an offering as specified by the Ceremonial Law

Are we saved by grace or the keeping of the law?

The ceremonial ordinances, which embodied the frequent purchasing of animals for sacrifices, and the frequent handling of blood, with its diverse washings and purifications, were contrary to our very nature. The continual keeping of them could not totally clear or free a person's conscience from sin. It was an enmity or a curse that Christ's death took away forever
