INTRODUCTION

Friends, we greet you in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

In this study, we bring you the introduction to our series on the Holy Scriptures. The Holy Scriptures in Christendom is what has become commonly known today as the Bible. The Bible, comprising of a total of 66 books, with 39 in the Old Testament, and 27 in the New Testament, was put together by approximately 40 inspired writers, writing over a period of nearly 1,600 years. This ancient book accord itself with the lofty title of the Word of God (see Hebrews 4:12). This clear internal assertion makes the Bible to be viewed by many as the authoritative and infallible revelation of God concerning mankind.

Beloved, the Bible is the only work that has gone through a universal plethora of opposites. Right from ancient times, the Bible has been the most revered book as well as the most ignored; the Bible has been the most cherished book as well as the most hated; the Bible has been the most studied book as well as the most neglected; the Bible has been the most protected book as well as the most destroyed. In fact, several calculated attempts have been made in the past to wipe out the Bible from existence, yet the Bible is the most common book in the world today. Clearly found on the visible stands of today's bookstores, the Bible, containing the ancient Holy Scriptures continue to amaze the publishing world as it leads out year by year as the number one bestseller in the world.
